Term of the Month 03/21: The Cinematographic Mind and Literary Form

March 2021

This could well be the remit of screenwriters, cinematographers, surgeons, and some fiction writers, to name a few. I’ve described it before. It’s not exactly a photographic memory but there are some similarities. What I’m describing here is a very detailed sequential image-forming machine of the imagination in Technicolor. There is Sensurround enhancement in the background, olfactory and gustatory overlay. Yet mouths move like an old Oscar Micheaux silent movie and you add dialogue, voice, to that silent movie that’s far from silent. Dialogue from such a mind has a unique texture and flow. Confused? I’m still trying to figure it out myself (chuckle). But it exists…

You don’t have to agree, just consider.
